Addiction is a chronic, relapsing disorder characterized by compulsive drug-seeking despite harmful consequences. These behavioral changes are also accompanied by changes in brain function. McGovern scientists are exploring the brain circuits involved in flawed decision-making – a hallmark of addiction – and have found that normal behavior can be restored through fine-tuning of this circuit.
